About

“Cattywampus Oasis” is a cheeky nickname for our farm.

A little unruly and slightly askew from everything, our farm is an oasis among tidy farm fields.

Our pastures are covered year-round in a diverse mix of grasses and legumes. By supporting us, you support a sustainable, organic agriculture model that benefits the natural landscape, the people who live and work there, and the rural community.

We make soap and lotion made out of animal fat.

Our products honor our animals and the life we gave them.

Using as much of the animal as possible is a sustainable and ethical choice.  Animal fats for skin care have been around for a very long time, and are prized for their ability to work in harmony with your skin.

We use organic, naturally-derived ingredients when it makes sense, but focus on products that are safe, affordable, feel nice, and are practical for everyday use.

100% grass-fed is different.

Our tallow has a slight, pleasant smell of grass and sunshine.

Sourced from our certified organic farm, our tallow is 100% grass-fed from start to finish, which gives it a unique fatty acid profile and pleasant smell that is undetected once applied.  Our lard comes from certified organic heritage-breed pigs that have access to pasture their entire lives, and is used primarily in our soaps. Due to saponification, it does not smell like bacon, much to some people’s dismay.

Our maker is a farmer first.

Laurie believes in growing good food for her family and community.

Knowing how important animal fats were to ancestral foodways and health, and in the spirit of honoring the entire animal, she found ways it could be used in high quality, yet accessible products that we use every day. The “Cattywampus Oasis” moniker not only fits her little homestead, but the farm where she sources tallow and lard, Full Circle Community Farm, where she grazes cattle and raises pigs.
